Here’s more good news that you’re probably not hearing: Democrats took control from Republicans in New Hampshire,
Colorado,
Minnesota,
Maine, Nevada, New Mexico, Illinois, and New York, and now hold the governor’s seat and both chambers of the legislature in the last six of those states.
This is huge for fixing the huge gerrymandering issues at the state level that have enshrined minority rule by the GOP in all U.S. elections from the presidency on down.

just because american christians are capable of being really shitty doesn’t mean that all christians “deserve” persecution. christians are already persecuted all around the world. churches burned down. people are killed. it’s fucking horrific. don’t act like their suffering is deserved.

It’s important to remember that Christianity was never exclusive to Europe. It began in the Middle East and it was being practised there and in India and North Africa while most of Europe was still polytheistic. A lot of these communities are being persecuted today, like Egyptian Copts and Iraqi Chaldean Catholics.
This isn’t to say genocide and colonialism never happened because they obviously did, and this isn’t to excuse any of the brutality, but not every Christian is a white European or North American who gets privilege because of colonial history. Which religious groups are being attacked or not really depends on where you’re talking about.
Literally 7 Coptic Christians were targeted for their faith and murdered today, so please stfu about Christian suffering as a joke(?), please. I have plenty of my own issues with Christianity (especially conservative, evangelical, and/or mission based types), but Christianity is a global religion with people of all colors, classes, and sexualities. Many of the global Christian community suffer serious threats to their safety. Even in America queer Christians suffer due to poor understandings of the text and sexuality.

All the notes of “women weren’t on old time battlefields” are wrong. There were more prostitutes and merchant women than there were soldiers in most every encampment. They followed the armies, marching alongside them, and notably ran the camps.
Many more women dressed as men to fight.
Long before female nurses were officially considered to be a part of the military, they were already on the battlefield. They merely didn’t get written into official reports because they were “invisible women”, “not supposed to be there”. Usually they would be local women running a makeshift care center out of their homes.
Movies involving ancient societies? Guess how many had female fighters?
Spies? Mostly female. Yeah, only the men were caught, usually (because nobody suspected the servant woman), but historians believe most cases had more women spies than men. Most cases meaning across time and continents.
Giving me a movie on samurai? Women were trained as well to avoid being captured and raped, and often fought just as hard as men. One woman notably survived multiple battles, and became a hero alongside her sisters after taking out 7 men before dying in her last fight (usually in sword fighting you’d be lucky to take out 2 enemy soldiers. 7 is fucking insane, but because she was a woman it was shoved under the records how the lord managed to survive).
Women have ALWAYS been on battlefields. Women have an intense history in driving victories and losses alike. They were supply runners, fighters, spies, assassins, prostitutes (look up how prostitutes essentially ran the western world, or even the social status of harem members. They literally fucking ruled), even underground activists.
The only time there weren’t many women were with cowboys. Actual western cowboys tended to be both POC and gay. In fact, any time women didn’t have a near equal or greater presence, there was a LOT of gay men.
History: either 80% female or 100% gay. And it’s 95% POC.
Ben and Jerry’s isn’t making an empty advertising gesture. They company has supported Bernie Sanders, and made an ice cream flavor to raise awareness of global warming. They run progressive news stories on their websites and social media. They pay their workers a living wage. Even their brownies are sourced from a company that specializes in hiring people out of jail to help them get their lives back on track. They’re open supporters of socialism. I understand the idea of “no ethical consumption” but Ben and Jerry’s isn’t just adopting a political message for nothing.
Imagine the Avengers getting hit with some sort of spell that makes them revert to their first language

your bare minimum isn’t actually that bare or minimum. my dad once told me that there’s nothing in this world that’s easy and that’s true tbh. everything we do takes energy, time, and effort. even the little things. if you feel like you’re not doing enough please try to think about your circumstances and what’s currently available to you: chances are, there’s something that’s diverting or otherwise draining you. and to pull away from that and get something done regardless? well, i think that’s really admirable! please try to take pride in the things you do accomplish in a day, no matter how small or trifling you perceive them to be. you can’t be proud of your growth if you don’t notice where you already are!
